We are committed to protecting the privacy of our website visitors and customers. The protection and security of personal data is our top priority.
Messer Cutting Systems GmbH, represented by its managing directors, Otto-Hahn-Straße 2-4, 64823 Groß-Umstadt (Tel. 06078 787 0, e-mail: info@messer-cutting.com; hereinafter "we" or "us") therefore strictly adheres to the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG) and the Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act (TDDDG). In the following, as the controller within the meaning of Art. 4 No. 7 GDPR, we inform you with this privacy policy about how we handle your personal data, i.e. which personal data we collect and for what purpose they are processed.
What is personal data?
The GDPR defines the term personal data. Accordingly, this is all information that relates to an identified or identifiable natural person. This includes, for example, your civil name, your telephone number or your date of birth.
Data logging
In general, it is not necessary for you to provide personal data in order to use our website. However, when you visit this website, our web server automatically records so-called log files. The data stored in these files include
- IP address of the requesting computer (including the geographical location)
- Page from which the file was requested (referrer URL)
- Access date and time of the server request, including the duration of your visit
- Browser type and settings
- operating system
- the page you visited (file name and URL)
- the amount of data transferred
- Access status (file transferred etc.)
This data is only collected for statistical purposes. It is not passed on to third parties for commercial or non-commercial purposes. We also do not merge this data with other data from other sources. Access to this data from your end device is absolutely necessary for accessing the website in accordance with § 25 Para. 2 No. 2 TDDDG. The collection and processing of this data takes place in order to enable the use of the website at all and to adapt it to the interests of the users, on the basis of Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is the provision and administration of our website with all its functionalities, including its ongoing optimisation.
This data stored in server log files is only stored for a limited period of time and is automatically deleted at regular intervals after 30 days.
We reserve the right to check this data retrospectively if we become aware of specific indications of unlawful use. This check is carried out exclusively to detect and prevent unlawful use of our website on the basis of Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is to ensure the security of our website and to prevent unauthorised use.
Further collection, processing and use of personal data
We only collect or process personal data if you provide us with this information voluntarily, e.g. as part of an enquiry. In this case, your details from the enquiry, including the contact details you provide there, will be stored and used by us to fulfil the purpose associated with the transmission, e.g. to process your enquiry and in the event of follow-up questions. The basis for this storage and use of this personal data is Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. b) GDPR, insofar as you enter this personal data for the purpose of initiating a contractual relationship with us. Only in this case is the entry of personal data necessary within the meaning of Art. 13 para. 2 lit. e) GDPR. Otherwise, this storage and use is based on Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. f) GDPR, whereby our legitimate interest is the careful processing of your request.
If you commission us to provide a service or we utilise your services, we will only collect, store and use your personal data to the extent necessary for the provision of the service or the performance of the contract. The legal basis for the associated data processing is Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. b) GDPR. For this purpose, it may also be necessary to pass on your personal data to companies that we use to provide the service or to fulfil the contract. These are, for example, transport companies or other service providers. This transfer to the service providers we use is then also carried out on the basis of Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. b) GDPR.
In all cases in which the data processing as described above serves the fulfilment of the contract, the provision of your personal data is necessary for the conclusion of the contract (see Art. 13 para. 2 lit. e) GDPR). Without your personal data, it is not possible for us to fulfil the contract.
Data processing in the application process
Your personal data that you send us as part of an application (usually contact details, cover letter and application documents such as references, summarised as "application data") will only be stored and used for the purpose of processing your application. We use the service provider rexx Systems GmbH, Süderstraße 75-79, 20097 Hamburg, Germany, to carry out the application process. The following persons within Messer Cutting Systems GmbH have access to your data: employees of the personnel department, the responsible line manager and the works council. Should a second personal interview take place, during which you are to meet your future colleagues, they will receive your CV so that they can prepare for the interview. All of the above-mentioned persons have been bound to data secrecy and will treat your application with absolute confidentiality.
Data collection and processing in the context of an application for an open position at Messer Cutting Systems GmbH is carried out in accordance with Art. 88 GDPR in conjunction with § 26 para. 1 sentence 1 and para. 3 BDSG. If we continue to store your personal data in our applicant management system for a period of one year after completion of the application process, this is done in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. a) GDPR on the basis of your voluntarily given consent, which we may obtain separately in the application process. Otherwise, your data (application data and interview results) will be completely deleted from our applicant management system no later than six months after the end of the application process, provided that there are no legitimate reasons on our part to the contrary.
Use of CookieFirst
We use the Consent Manager CookieFirst of the provider Digital Data Solutions B.V., Plantage Middenlaan 42a, 1018 DH Amsterdam ("Digital Data Solutions") on our website. The use of the Digital Data Solutions Consent Manager enables us to obtain, manage and document the consent of website visitors to the storage of or access to information from their end device and to the subsequent data processing. For this purpose, Digital Data Solutions places cookies on the website visitor's end device. In particular, the date and time of giving consent, device information, browser information, the anonymised IP address and the consent status of the website visitor are collected and stored.
The legal basis for the use of the Consent Manager in the form of the cookie banner used by us is § 25 para. 2 no. 2 TDDDG and Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. c) GDPR, as we thus fulfil our legal obligation to obtain and document consent.
Your personal information will be stored for as long as is necessary to fulfil the purposes described above, i.e. we must be able to prove the existence of any consent you may have given.
Further information on the processing of data by Digital Data Solutions can be found here: https://cookiefirst.com/legal/privacy-policy/

This website uses cookies. We use cookies and services from partners such as Google to analyse visits to our website in order to gain insights for better content and to display certain easy-to-use interactive content if you give your consent via the "Accept all" button. To the extent necessary for these purposes, our partner (Google, InnoCraft) receives information relating to you, such as your IP address, and processes it in accordance with its privacy policy. Our partner reserves the right to further process transmitted data for its own purposes, such as improving its services and cross-device profiling. Your data may also be processed by our partner in a third country in which an equivalent level of data protection may not be guaranteed. You can revoke your consent at any time for the future. Further details on data processing and our partners can be found in the following sections of our privacy policy.

Information about Matomo
On this website, we use the web analysis service Matomo (formerly Piwik) from the provider InnoCraft, 7 Waterloo Quay PO625, 6140 Wellington, New Zealand, to analyse and check the use of our website.
For these purposes, the service records, among other things, from which third-party website you came to our site (so-called referrer URL), information on the access time and the location from which an access originated, your language settings as well as which parts of our website you access and how often and for how long you have viewed a particular part of our website. We primarily collect this information using cookies set by Matomo. In addition, your IP address is recorded to ensure the security of the service and to provide us as the website operator with information about the country, region or location from which the respective user originates.
Your IP address is only processed in abbreviated form and direct personal identification is excluded. It is therefore no longer possible to identify you as a user. The IP address transmitted by your browser via Matomo is not merged with other data collected by us; data is also not passed on to third parties. We have integrated Matomo locally so that your data is not transmitted to InnoCraft. No profiles of individual users are created from the processed data.
Further information on data protection can be found in Matomo's privacy policy at https://matomo.org/privacy-policy/ and the GDPR information at https://matomo.org/gdpr-analytics/.
The legal basis for the use of cookies from Matomo on your end device is your consent in accordance with Section 25 (1) TDDDG. The legal basis for the collection and further processing of the information collected via the cookies is your consent given in the Consent Manager (Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. a) GDPR). You can withdraw your consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal. You can revoke your consent at any time by changing your settings in our Consent Manager.
Analysis by WiredMinds
Our website uses the LeadLab tracking technology from WiredMinds GmbH, Lindenspürstrasse 32, 70176 Stuttgart (‘WiredMinds’) to analyse visitor behaviour. We use this tool to measure the reach of our website. For this purpose, before the visitor behaviour is recorded, the IP address is read from the TCP/IP protocol of the website visitor's end device and compared with the WiredMinds company database (whitelist procedure). This procedure is mainly used in the B2B sector to identify companies. Once the IP address has been matched, it is deleted again and only the company remains registered. The IP address is never stored in LeadLab. The data we collect does not allow any conclusions to be drawn about an identifiable person at any time, but is used solely for the purpose of being able to assign website visits to an identifiable company.
WiredMinds uses this information to create anonymous usage profiles relating to the visiting behaviour on our website. The data obtained in this way is not used to personally identify visitors to our website. If the identifiability of a natural person cannot be excluded during a website visit, this visit behaviour is not recorded.
We base this data processing on our legitimate interest in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. f) GDPR. This consists of obtaining information about an identifiable company and optimising our website through an analytical view of visitor behaviour. WiredMinds does not process your data for its own purposes and works exclusively in accordance with instructions and on the basis of a concluded order processing contract in accordance with Art. 28 GDPR.
You can object to the collection and processing of data at any time by clicking on the following link:
Exclude from tracking
If you opt out, a technically necessary cookie will be set to permanently exclude from tracking by WiredMinds LeadLab on this website.
Further information on data processing by WiredMinds can be found here https://wiredminds.de/en/privacy/
Use of Google Maps
This website also uses the product Google Maps, a map service of Google Ireland Limited Gordon House, Barrow Street Dublin 4, Ireland ("Google"), to display an interactive map. By using Google Maps, information about your use of this website (including your IP address) may be transmitted to a Google server in the USA and stored there. Google may transfer the information obtained to third parties where required to do so by law, or where such third parties process the information on Google's behalf. Google Maps also processes your data for its own purposes, such as the improvement and development of Google services. You can find more information about data processing by Google here: https://www.google.com/policies/privacy/
You have the option of deactivating the Google Maps service and thus preventing the transfer of data to Google by deactivating JavaScript in your browser. However, we would like to point out that you will not be able to use the map display in this case.
The information collected is stored on Google servers, including in the USA. For third country transfers of personal data to the USA, the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework of the EU Commission provides an adequacy decision pursuant to Art. 45 para. 1 sentence 1 GDPR, which certifies that companies certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework have an adequate level of data protection within the meaning of the GDPR. Google LLC is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and entered in the list maintained by the U.S. Department of Commerce (Data Privacy Framework List). A consistently high level of data protection is therefore guaranteed for the transmission of data to Google's servers in the USA. The basis for the use of Google Maps is your consent in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. a) GDPR.
Use of YouTube
With your consent, content (such as videos) from the YouTube service, which is operated by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland ("Google"), is also integrated into our website. This allows us to show you videos stored on YouTube.com directly on the website and enables you to play the videos conveniently.
If you visit one of our parts of the website featuring YouTube content and consent to the use of the YouTube service in our cookie settings, a connection to the YouTube or Google servers is established. The fact that you have visited our website as well as your IP address, time stamp and other log data will be communicated. Google processes the data collected via YouTube for its own purposes and in accordance with its own privacy policy. The data may be stored by Google in user profiles and processed, for example, to improve products, develop new products, measure the effectiveness of certain advertisements and market research and personalise content and advertisements. If you are logged into your YouTube account, your data will be assigned directly to your user account. If you do not wish your data to be associated with your YouTube or Google user account, you must log out before activating YouTube. We have no influence on the further processing of your data by Google. You can find more information on this in Google's privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy
YouTube also analyses the views of the videos statistically and provides us with reports on these analyses, which, however, only contain general information on the views, such as the total number of views. In this respect, we do not receive any more detailed information about the individual persons concerned. We embed the videos in such a way that no cookies are set by YouTube to analyse user behaviour when you access the videos on our website (so-called "extended data protection mode"). We therefore assume that no more precise analysis of the behaviour of the data subjects is carried out as part of the analysis of video views by YouTube and that this cannot be assigned to individual persons. According to Google, the video view is also not used for further personalisation of YouTube content.
The aforementioned data may also be transmitted by Google to servers in the USA. This could give rise to additional risks, for example, it could be more difficult to enforce your rights to this data or certain US authorities could gain access to this data. As already explained, Google LLC is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and entered in the list maintained by the U.S. Department of Commerce (Data Privacy Framework List). A high level of data protection is therefore guaranteed throughout the transmission to Google's servers in the USA (Art. 45 para. 1 sentence 1 GDPR).
We only activate YouTube if you consent to the use of cookies set by YouTube (i.e. the storage and reading of these cookies on your end device) and the processing of your data by YouTube and Google. These consents therefore form the legal basis for the use of cookies (Section 25 (1) TDDDG) and for the processing of your data by YouTube and Google (Art. 6 (1) sentence 1 lit. a) GDPR) on our website. You can revoke the consent you have already given at any time with effect for the future, for example by deselecting the "Marketing" category in the cookie settings above.
We also operate a YouTube account. When you visit YouTube, Google collects your account data or, if you do not have an account, your IP address and log data and uses it to create user profiles in order to determine your interests based on your behaviour and to be able to display user-specific advertising (across websites). Based on the user data that Google collects, Google provides us with aggregated user statistics (so-called "YouTube Insights"). The information transmitted is anonymous to us and we cannot draw any conclusions about specific users. We have no influence on the processing of personal data for the creation of YouTube Insights.
We have the usage statistics made available to us in order to improve the content published on our YouTube channel and make it as interesting as possible for users.
We are joint controllers with Google for this processing of personal data in accordance with Art. 26 GDPR. In the joint controller agreement at https://business.safety.google/controllerterms/ , we have defined who assumes which obligations under the GDPR. It also describes which data is processed within the scope of joint responsibility.
If you contact us via YouTube, e.g. by commenting on a video or writing a message, we process your data (e.g. name and communication content) in order to process your request. This processing takes place on the basis of Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is to process your request and your feedback.
The statements on third country transfers under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework also apply in this context.
Use of Google Fonts
We use Google Fonts on our website. Google Fonts is a collection interface for fonts offered by Google Ireland Limited, Gordan House, Barrow Street Dublin 4, Ireland ("Google"). Various manufacturers can store fonts under Google Fonts, which can then be used by website operators. The connection to Google Fonts is only established if you give your full consent via the cookie banner and are on our website on which YouTube videos are embedded. This serves to load the fonts for YouTube, as Google Fonts is used to display text elements on the YouTube user interface. In particular, your IP address and log data may be sent to Google when the connection is established. Google processes your data for its own purposes, such as the improvement and development of Google services. The same apply here explanations as we have provided for the YouTube service. You can find more information about data processing by Google here: https://www.google.com/policies/privacy/
The legal basis for the use of Google Fonts is your consent in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. a) GDPR. You can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future. We justify access to the information stored on your end device based on your consent in accordance with Section 25 (1) TDDDG.
To load the fonts, a connection to Google's servers is established so that, among other things, your IP address can be transmitted to Google servers. The servers may also be located in the USA, which means that your data may be transferred to a third country. As already explained, is Google LLC certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and entered in the list maintained by the U.S. Department of Commerce (Data Privacy Framework List). A high level of data protection is therefore guaranteed throughout the transfer to Google's servers in the USA.
LinkedIn presence
When you visit our presence on LinkedIn, which is offered by LinkedIn Ireland Unlimited Company, Wilton Place, Dublin 2, Ireland ("LinkedIn"), LinkedIn processes personal data in order to provide us with statistics and insights in anonymised form using analysis tools (so-called page insights). The data processed is data that you have already provided when registering or using LinkedIn. We have no influence on the use of such tools by LinkedIn and have not been informed of such potential use. It is also not possible for us to draw conclusions about individual users based on the information from the Page Insights. We have the usage statistics made available to us in order to improve the posts published on LinkedIn and to make them as interesting as possible for users.
LinkedIn and we are jointly responsible for the processing of personal data for the creation of these usage statistics in accordance with Art. 26 GDPR.
In the Page Insights Joint Controller Addendum at https://legal.linkedin.com/pages-joint-controller-addendum, LinkedIn and we have contractually defined which of us fulfils which obligations under the GDPR. It also describes which data is processed within the scope of joint responsibility.
You can find more information on data processing by LinkedIn in LinkedIn's privacy policy: https://de.linkedin.com/legal/privacy-policy?. You can find our page here: https://www.linkedin.com/company/messer-cutting-systems-europe /
If you contact us via the LinkedIn page, e.g. by commenting on a post or writing a message via LinkedIn messages, we process your data (e.g. your name and the content of the communication) in order to process your request. The legal basis for this data processing is our legitimate interest pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is to get in contact with you via the online presence, to reach many users and to inform them about our offer and to clarify your request.
In connection with the above-mentioned functions, LinkedIn may also transfer the processed data to servers outside the EU, in particular to LinkedIn Corp. in the USA, insofar as this is necessary for the provision of these services. LinkedIn Corp. is also certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and is entered in the list maintained by the U.S. Department of Commerce (Data Privacy Framework List). A consistently high level of data protection is therefore guaranteed for the transmission of data to LinkedIn Corp. servers in the USA (Art. 45 para. 1 sentence 1 GDPR).
Facebook presence
We would also like to get in touch with you via Facebook. Facebook is a service provided by Meta Platforms Technologies Ireland Limited, 4 Grand Canal Square Dublin 2, Ireland ("Meta"). When you visit our Facebook page, Meta collects usage data. In particular, Meta collects the IP address and sets cookies on the user's end device in order to tailor content or advertising to the user based on their activities. In principle, Meta is solely responsible for this under data protection law. Further information on data processing by Meta can be found in the privacy policy here: https://de-de.facebook.com/privacy/policy/?entry_point=data_policy_redirect&entry=0 . Our Facebook page can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/MesserCuttingSystemsEurope/#
When you visit our Facebook page, Meta uses some of the usage data collected to compile summarised user statistics (so-called page insights) and make them available to us. We access the user statistics in order to understand and thus improve the behaviour of users in connection with our posts and contributions and to make them as interesting as possible for users. You can find more information about Page Insights here: https://www.facebook.com/legal/terms/page_controller_addendum
In the course of processing personal data to compile these user statistics, Meta and we are joint controllers pursuant to Art. 26 GDPR. We have concluded a Joint Controller Addendum with Meta at https://www.facebook.com/legal/controller_addendum , in which we specify which of us fulfils which obligations under the GDPR. It also describes which data is processed within the scope of joint responsibility.
If you contact us via Facebook, for example via the Messenger function, we process your personal data in order to process your request. The legal basis for this processing is our legitimate interest pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is to be able to offer you short and simple communication channels and thus to advertise and provide our services in an uncomplicated manner for your benefit.
In connection with the above-mentioned functions, Facebook may also transfer the processed data to servers outside the EU, in particular to Meta Platforms Inc. in the USA. For the USA, the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework is an adequacy decision of the EU Commission pursuant to Art. 45 para. 1 sentence 1 GDPR, which certifies that certified companies have an adequate level of data protection within the meaning of the GDPR. Meta Platforms Inc. is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and is also entered in the list maintained by the U.S. Department of Commerce (Data Privacy Framework List). A consistently high level of data protection is therefore guaranteed when data is transferred to Meta Platforms Inc. servers in the USA.

No automated decision
Automated decision-making including profiling in accordance with Art. 22 (1) and (4) GDPR does not take place on our part.
Data transfer to third parties
Your personal data will not be passed on to third parties without your express consent, unless this is necessary for the provision of the service or the fulfilment of the contract. Accordingly, your data will only be transferred to third parties on the basis of your consent in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. a) GDPR or for the purpose of contract fulfilment in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. b) GDPR. The transfer to state institutions and authorities authorised to receive information also only takes place within the framework of the statutory obligations to provide information or if we are obliged to provide information by a court decision. In this case, the transfer of your data is required by Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. c) GDPR to fulfil a legal obligation to which we are subject.
Where external service providers come into contact with your personal data, we have taken legal, technical and organisational measures and carried out regular checks to ensure that they comply with the provisions of the data protection laws.
General storage period and deletion
We store your personal data for as long as it is necessary to fulfil the intended purpose (e.g. contract fulfilment, answering your enquiry) or for legitimate reasons within the meaning of Art. 17 para. 3 GDPR, such as statutory retention periods, which make storage necessary. As long as statutory retention obligations, such as tax and commercial law regulations, prevent the deletion of your personal data, we will restrict the processing of your data; your data will then be deleted in accordance with the statutory provisions.
Applicant data will be deleted within a maximum of six months after the end of the application process, unless you have given us your consent to store it for longer or there are legitimate reasons on our part, such as defence against legal claims, that prevent deletion.
Security of your data
We have taken appropriate technical and organisational precautions to prevent the loss, misuse or unauthorised alteration of your personal data. We store all personal data that you provide to us on our secure (password- and firewall-protected) servers. All electronic transactions you make with us or receive from us are encrypted. Please note that data transmission over the Internet is not completely secure and we cannot guarantee the security of data transmitted over the Internet.
Your rights as a data subject
You will receive confirmation or information about your personal data stored by us free of charge at any time without giving reasons (Art. 15 GDPR). In addition, you have the right to rectification of incorrect data (Art. 16 GDPR) and, if applicable, to erasure of your personal data if there are no legitimate reasons for not erasing it (Art. 17 (3) GDPR), or to restriction of data processing (Art. 18 GDPR). If the basis for data processing is Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. f) GDPR (safeguarding legitimate interests), you have the right to object to the processing of your personal data at any time in accordance with Art. 21 GDPR, provided that there are reasons for this arising from your particular situation or if the objection is directed against data processing for direct marketing purposes. In the latter case, you have a general right to object, which will be implemented by us without giving reasons arising from your particular situation (Art. 21 (2) GDPR). If you object on grounds relating to your particular situation, we will no longer process your personal data unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for the processing which override your interests, rights and freedoms or for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims (Art. 21 (1) GDPR).
You can also freely revoke any consent you have given us for data collection and processing at any time with effect for the future without giving reasons.
If you provide data that concerns you and we process this data on the basis of your consent or to fulfil a contract, you can request that you receive this data from us in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format or that we transfer this data to another controller, insofar as this is technically possible (so-called right to data portability).
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority if you are of the opinion that data processing by us violates the statutory provisions.
To assert your aforementioned rights, please contact us at the address given above or send us or our data protection officer an e-mail.
Our data protection officer
In our company, we have appointed internal data protection coordinators and an external data protection officer. They implement organisational and technical measures to ensure that your personal data is well protected. Please contact the Messer Cutting Systems GmbH data protection officer if you have any questions about data protection at datenschutz@messer-cutting.com.
For postal submissions, please use our postal address listed above in the introduction.

Our website may contain links from other providers that are not covered by this privacy policy. It does not cover third-party content and websites to which our website merely links. The processing of your personal data on such websites is carried out by the respective operator of the website, without us having any influence on this processing. Information on the handling of your personal data and its protection can be found in the privacy policy of the respective provider.
